My chain snapped on my commute to work this morning - and unfortunately I don't have the tools/parts with me to fix it. Any recommendations of repair shops in/close to the loop? - hopefully walking distance from the Board of Trade which I work near... Hop g to get it fixed in time for Critical Mass!

I don't know of anything walking distance.  Kozy's has a location on Erie just west of Wells and another one on--I think--DesPlaines about 800 south.

I would not trust Kozy's on Erie with anything more than a flat tire. I have never ridden my bike out of there without some mechanical issue that needs further attention. I don't know anything about Kozy's on DesPlaines.

These days, On the Route on south Michigan is my go-to place for repair in the Loop. It can be tough to get a quick repair from them, though. I'd call ahead.

There's a place called Mox on Randolph and Halsted but I don't know anything more about the shop.

Thanks for the reminder about On the Route!  I admit I have never had anything done at Kozy's other than getting a flat fixed, and they did that very quickly.

I have always had good experiences at the Erie location of Kozy...

If you're westish, there is also Live Grit at 1010 W. Monroe.

On the Route is/was moving to 728 S. Dearborn, not sure if they are there now???

I believe they were planning to open in September, but it couldn't hurt to call.

I'm leaving work today to get an early start on the holiday weekend. I have the tools in my saddle bag to remove a couple links in your chain and get you back on the road. Can you pop out of the office for a few minutes to meet me? I'll be leaving here around 2:30-3pm.

What about the McDonald Cycle Center on Randolph right next to Millenium Park? Great service there if you can walk over before they close which I think is 6pm.
