The Chainlink

I was on Google Maps looking for a better route from Niles to the Irish-American Heritage Center and they showed a mysterious bike route running from Lawrence to Elston OVER Cicero and I94. Zooming in, I could see that it was an abandoned railroad right-of-way, but I could see no way of getting to  it, other than possibly via the FirstAmBank lot. Ended up driving that way this evening and nosed around and saw no way of getting to it at all. Is it really a bike route as Google insists? Is there a secret to using it? Do I have to wait for Durin's Day?

Wait....that big dirt trail next to the Sauganash trail is the Weber Spur? People actually ride bikes on that thing?

yep, I went out there yesterday to check it out. You need something like a mountain bike with the big tires, road bike forget it.

Definitely an off-road riding experience - fat tires only.

It figures. They can take that off, but it takes them forever to correct street name errors when we point them out.

Does it?  My corrections are usually done in a week or two.

It seems to vary quite a bit.  Sometimes they get fixed right away.  I submitted one street name correction and it took multiple follow ups over at least 3 months to get it fixed (111th St. in Chicago had in incorrect name on it for the longest time).  I can think of another that I submitted and followed up on multiple times (S East Ave. in Oak Park was SE Ave.).
