The Chainlink

Bet most of you don't know that 125 pro and elite amateur riders kick off a 17 day International Cycling Classic event right here in Beverly on Chicago's SW side. It's fun, it's free, and you've never seen anything like it. Great music, food and beer too. If you miss Friday, it happens again Saturday in Blue Island. There is more info at bapa.org. Look for me there! I'll have my buzz on.

Thanks Ken, I'm so glad you posted about this event, it is one of my favorite of the year!
Folks, maybe most of you don't venture down to the southside, but believe me, this is worth it. It's like a massive block party surrounding a pro race. You can take the Metra right down there, it stops just a couple of blocks from the race route.
I went to both Beverly & Blue Island last year.
Ken, do you know, is Beverly doing the neighborhood ride on Sunday too?
I'm glad that this is info you'll use. Great PR for my neighborhood too. I don't know if anything is planned Sunday. I've email someone at Beverly Bike Club to find out. I'll let you know. I'll look for you at the race! (though your pic won't help much)
Hi, I too live in Beverly, and am on the race committee. Friday is a really great time...that is a great explaination..a block party surrounded by a pro race. There will not be a Beverly family ride this year on Sunday. I used to lead that with some others from the BBC, but it is not scheduled for this year. The BBC does ride every Tuesday and Thursday evenings, leaving from Starbucks at 103rd and Longwood at 6:45 pm. Come join us at the race and ask any marshall if they are with the BBC, if you want or need more info. Hope to see you there.

Glenn
For more info on the Superweek race series, of which Friday's Beverly race and Saturday's all-day Blue Island races are a part, click here.

Metra's 107th St. station is very close to Friday night's start/finish area (107th & Longwood). Go here for info on fares, schedules, stations, etc.

The Beverly event is one men's pro race from 6 p.m. to around dusk. The Blue Island race day has several races in different categories, from cat 1 to cat 5, men and women. For transportation, the Blue Island/Vermont St. station is fairly close to the race course, which passes through downtown just west of the station. Both the Beverly and Blue Island events are a lot of fun.
There are so many great rides and cycling events this weekend, but I am definitely going to watch the Beverly race! Thanks again for all the info you have all offered about it!
