The Chainlink

They don't weigh much, are charming, less rude than "on your left" and make people smile. I think all bikes in Chicago should have one. Two of my bikes have bells (including my road bike) and I can hardly believe I used to ride in the city without them.

Who agrees with me? What's your favorite kind of bell?

Mine are the Japanese brass ones, though the ones with a built in clock and others in the shape of a tiny teapot are rad too.

Go out to your LBS and get a bell for each one of your bikes!

But apparently some contain too much lead, so don't lick them I guess;-)
I've been rocking the freebie bell New Belgium handed out at the UAR last summer. Pretty pleased with its performance.

BELLS ARE FOR DING-A-LINGS!
(I just thought that was kinda funny. I have a silver Incredibell. I use it well.)
Incredibells are kind of small, right?
I guess that's what I have then, but after reading this discussion and some of the reviews on Amazon, I'm starting to think it may be a dud.
I pull the little trigger, and it gives off a sound like tapping a glass that's at least half full of water with a spoon. I liked that it didn't sound overly threatening, but does this sound right?
