Another Reason Riding Your Bike During Chicago Rush Hour Beats Public Transit

Even biking was slow due to heavy wind and masses of pedestrians and drivers moving around Lincoln Park looking all confused.

That is a horrible way to go.  I don't even like standing near the blue lego surface and I've got no fear of heights.  But the thought of someone bumping/shoving me onto the tracks or in front of the train has me sort of freaked out.  Poor person :(

If we can just get enough people to switch to bicycling maybe we can do away with transit altogether!

I was thinking that bike share will come in VERY handy in situations like this. The fire at Fullerton and Sheffield caused massive motorized vehicle traffic with cabs and buses stuck as well. The bike lanes on Lincoln and Clark were all A OK!

In fact, so A-OK that I biked up Clark street in the middle of all this yesterday and had no idea that anything was going on until I got home and saw it on the news. Sure, there was a ton of car traffic and I saw cops out in the intersection directing traffic at Clark and Belmont, but I just figured it must be a Cubs game and zipped up Halsted, with all bike lanes completely open.

I hear they are demolishing Roy's building.  Sad, they had great furniture at good prices and were good for the community.  Hopefully they were very well insured and can rebuild or relocate in the same neighborhood.

I heard on the news (¿WBEZ?) that a spokesperson from Roy's said that they were planning to rebuild at the same location.

On what, bike share? It's still on its way, as far as I know.
