Sharing an interesting article. Showing the love.

"As a cyclist, I'm frustrated by this divisiveness, and I want to help. I want to create a movement. I will admit, for the record, that I have given a middle finger once, or twice, to a wayward pedestrian or texting, distracted driver. But that is over, my friends. I am preaching a brand new philosophy designed to end the tiresome pitting of Citizens versus Bikes : Love."

"As in, I pledge to love everyone I encounter on the roadway, even if that love is not requited. As a cyclist I commit to love the pedestrian, the jogger, the dog walker, the skateboarder, the roller blader, the stroller-pusher, the scooter, etc. . ."

"And even if it sounds crazy - heretical, in fact - I will love my fellow automobile drivers, too."

"I want to love you because I want you to see me - and every cyclist - as part of the same transportation ecoSystem."

So if bicycles are here to stay, as are other modes of transportation. We must all have to show the love and get home safely. Is this possible? Are you with us? Love is all there is !

The all-too-common contemporary "critique" of cyclists is strikingly similar to the current "cry-bully" phenomenon. The powerful and entitled cry "bully" and accuse those whom they run roughshod over of being the "entitled." For an analogy (bear with me here), in this fun-house world of mirrors and its crazy inverted logic, what's far worse than being actually oppressed by systemic racism? Stupefyingly, being merely identified as a "racist" is somehow portrayed as the greater "victimhood." What's worse than being a victim of rape? Of course, being accused of rape! Thus, the fantastical proposition of a President Trump is entertained.

I need to go ride.

Ugh. Well said. Right there with you Curtis. Have a good ride! Riding makes me feel better when Trumps of the world bum me out.

+1 to both.

I ride and I love Trump

The tease for this post in the Chainlink weekly email is prefaced by following comment: "Cyclists may not expect to find an ally in a conservative-leaning financial publication...". I'm not sure that's quite fair! Jason Gay writes frequently about cycling for the WSJ, and given the increasing popularity of cycling among those with the resources to actually buy all those high-end frames and components and take all those prepackaged, exotic cycling vacations, perhaps the WSJ is exactly the place we should expect to feel the love! After all, cycling IS the new golf. http://www.businessinsider.com/cycling-is-the-new-golf-2015-2

Thanks for correcting us Heléna! :-) Either way, we are very happy to see love coming from WSJ.

I'm happy to see love coming from just about anywhere! I don't mean that in a weird way. LOL

Totes. Bike love is the BEST.

Not to put down a pro city cycling article but...the first bike was ridden in 1817 so I'd say bikes are here to stay.

The problem, as usual, is rules of the road ignorant drivers, texting drivers, entitled drivers.

Sharing an interesting and well written blog article I just found from kellycatchpole. "I am a cyclist, and I am here to f . . . you up."
