About bicycles for mom and dad with their children.

Hello, I am a new comer here from Japan. Nice to meet you.^^ Anyway, let me introduce myself a bit. I have been riding my Japanese bicycle with a special front child seat, personally called "mama bicycle" for over five years. (I am also writing about the bicycle on my blog "mama bicycle" )  I really appreciate it because my daughters and I have been to everywhere using it although the destination is always within thirty minutes. Of course, many mother and also fathers ( in fact fathers sometimes) ride such kind of well family friendly bicycles in Japan. I will be glad if more mothers and fathers outside Japan will try it with their children.

By the way, I have often heard that many mothers in the US feel scary if they happen to ride bicycles especially with their children. Is it seriously true? I would like to discuss about the use of the bicycle. Of course, I think it is not easy for American to start to try it soon.^^

Welcome!! We have a growing community of families who bicycle with our children here in Chicago, but it does sometimes feel like an uphill battle (despite Chicago's lack of hills :) Concerns about car traffic are probably the biggest issues. And, here are some other blogs and other resources, some of them Chicago-based. The last one links to some posts I wrote about car-free living during our son's first few years. Wow, thank you for your great reply. I really appreciate it. Well, as you say, you seem to concern about car accidents which would hurt your children badly. You are also battling to many slopes too...However, you and your children are always laughing, that make me fee happy.^^

I wish I could fly to Chicago. I am still in my office. Now it is 23:45. I feel sleepy.

 

Anyway, I have taken a glance at every blog which was introduced above. Well, they are all impressive.

 

I think many kids seat on a cargo at a time. They seem to enjoy riding.

 

Anyway, I hope I will get a trail on which my older daughter can ride behind me.
