Got him for more then just texting!


Des Plaines police may have been one of the first to make an arrest on the new no-texting state law that took effect Jan. 1.

On Jan. 2, a police officer saw a car cross a solid white traffic line two times in one block and noticed that the driver was sending a text message on his cell phone, police said.

Terry S. Moore, 39, of the 200 block of East Oakwood Avenue, Des Plaines, was arrested around 4:25 a.m. on the 700 block of North River Road and charged with illegal use of electronic communications, driving under the influence of alcohol, felony aggravated DUI (based on two prior DUI convictions), driving while license and registration suspended, operation of uninsured motor vehicle and improper lane usage.

What's kinda nuts is: How does a guy with 2 DUI convictions, suspended license and registration, still have a car?

Perhaps, but at least they got him off the streets for awhile.

Hope he's still off them when riding season goes into high gear this spring...

Yes, guys like this SHOULD be locked up and not eligible for early release under any conditions. Repeat drunk drivers should be locked up as long as possible. I hope his car is impounded with a high enough fee that he can't reclaim it.

Kudos to the Des Plaines police for arresting this menace.

I don't think so....his driver's license was ALREADY suspended! Guys like this should be locked up, since it is obvious that a court order means nothing to him...he's probably out there driving to a bar right now. In his condition, a car should certainly be considered a lethal weapon.
