I haven't added up everything because i write it down in so many different places but it should come out to 3-4 thousand for me so far. my goal was 5K but i doubt I'll make it.
Bike #1 (new computer in May) - 4377.6
Bike #2 - 965.5
Total = 5343.1+
Pretty sure I'm at or near 6k when I consider the lost 5 months and all those times I looked down and say my speed at 0.0 when I was doing at least 17mph. but I'll post my total computer miles here at the end of the year!

Wow! I hit 1000 miles for the the year a couple of months ago and it felt like a huge deal for me. 6000 miles is amazing. How does this person have the time to put 6000 miles on their bike in a year? What are his riding habits?

Very impressive!!! with work alone this year, ive done at least 2000 miles. i can only fathom the additional miles from rides, trips, and basic commuting around town, but i will safely say another 1K on top of that, likely more. i will be more conscious to track my mileage this coming year. ride on!
Here's my estimated tally for organized rides in 2009.
RAGBRAI (Iowa) = 520 miles
Insane Terrain Challenge (Madison, WI) = 124
Apple Cider Century (Michigan) = 100
North Shore Century (Evanston) = 114 (including ride to and from the start/finish)
Hilly Hundred (Indiana) = 100
Ride up to Milwaukee via farm roads = 100
Ride to the Indiana Dunes and back = 160
Bike The Drive = 30
Total = 1248
I have no idea what my miles are from commuting, training rides, Palos, Chainlink rides and my brief stint delivering sandwiches at Potbelly for extra cash. I think I averaged upwards of 50 miles per week...so maybe another 1,500-ish? I'm guessing I'll do 3,000 this year total. That pales in comparison to what Norm did!!!
That's a great number, much higher than mine. Regardless, I'm happy with my number for this year, which is a healthy increase over the last 2 years. Congrats to Norm!
The ODO on my warhorse bike is currently at 4177 Kilometres (~ 2400 miles) since mid-April, when i reset it. i figure another 3-400 kilos spread around my other bikes and a couple hundred Kilometres before the reset, but i can't really quantify those distances properly, so i'll claim 5000 kilometres (3100 mi.) for the year. i like using Kilos probably because 5100 k just feels like more than 3100 m. ;-)
any amount of miles is awesome as long as we "live to ride" and "ride to live" (stole that one from the
H-D dudes).
my cateye astrale 8 died earlier this year (and I have used 5 different bikes this year anyways), so I have no idea the mileage.
it's all good though.

Brett - FYI : you always do more in an organized ride than the advertised distance (just having some fun here). i.e. the Hilly Hundred pro'lly came out to over 105. that ride to the dunes this summer was awesome (Tour de Shore) - I will be sure to sign up again in '10.
