At least for me. I have had some bizarre health issues that have kept my bike and I distant strangers this summer. Last year people had to practically pry my bike and I apart. This year I'm lucky if I get a ride in every two weeks. I haven't even been able to build up and ride stamina because once I finally start to establish a rhythm I have to take a break.

I built a beautiful new ride that has barley lost its new bike smell :( it's already had two flats. I'm having an icky year cycle wise.

Anyone else had a similar year or rough patch?

Here's to the calm after the storm. Hopefully I'll be able to get in a few rides in the near future. I miss mike bike. I guess its really true what they say, you never realize how much you love something until you can't have it.

Sorry for the depressing rant, just needed to vent to an audience that would understand.

Roger that.  Had hernia surgery 3 years ago and was off the steed for 3 months.  I did enjoy my wife being my chauffeur though...

Amanda - It's been a sucky year for me too - multiple issues.  I've had a few sucky years before, which often turned into major motivation to do everything possible for the next year to be a great one.  I hope it works out that way for you.

Been there, Amanda. Blew out my knee skiing last year and was barely able to ride at all until August or so.

But this too shall pass. This year I'm back to 100% and spending just about every free minute on two wheels.

Courage!

I finally bout a "nice" bike at the end of Spring and it rained a lot so I didn't get to start riding it. Then on the 4th or 5th ride on said bike, I was T-boned by a guy turning left into me. The cops refused to file a report. But after that I re-bought the same bike paid almost double and have had a pretty good year beyond that.

3 months would be sooooo terrible. I'm not sure I would get through that.

Oh my gosh! I'm glad that you are better now. That must have been a rough recovery.

2 knee surgeries since February have kept me off the bike and off work for most of this year. The last 3 yrs I had averaged over 13K miles per year and my plan for this year was to hit 15k... I would not say it was a total suck though, my bike friends from CL and the racing community had plenty of events to keep a temporary gimp busy. I am back on the bike now trying to remove 9 months of couch potato lbs from my frame.

OUCH, well at least I have been able to avoid you most of the summer

I've been off my bike since June 22, when I did an inglorious dismount that had me doing splits with my right heel touching my right shoulder blade.

My riding buddies said my splits were pretty impressive for an old fart pushing 60, that the heel/shoulder blade thing was top notch and asked if I could do it again. This was after we were sure I didn't break anything. They really aren't pricks.  After 2 months of ICE, the right knee has somewhat gotten better, but not good enough. MRI on the 17th.

On the plus side, for me anyway, I've racked up 3000 miles on the moto since then.

I broke the radius in my left forearm when I slipped on some black ice this past March 15.  Ten days later, I had a plate installed on the radius and wasn't medically cleared to ride until May 31. Unfortunately, I had a wait until June 8 to start riding again.  Since then, I've worked hard to make up for some of that lost time.

Glad to hear I'm not alone in my suckyness. I do hope to get back in the saddle again soon. We keep our bicycles in our apartment, so it's like my bicycle has been mocking me since being off. I'm hoping this weekend. I'm afraid to push it, but I really miss riding. Fingers crossed!

Good luck.  I hope you're able to take a nice, easy, positive ride this weekend.
