Yoga and cycling complement each other in this exciting workshop for beginning yogis! Presented by Kathleen Ellis, RYT, participants will learn techniques to support their bodies and minds as they ride for transportation, recreation, and sport in the urban environment.
Urban cyclists have many common physical complaints: achy backs, tender wrists, tight hamstrings, slumpy posture, and many others. Emotionally, riding is by turns ...taxing and exhilerating – the beauty of the sky and the open road mixed with the always-present potential for conflict and injury.
In this two-hour workshop we'll explore elements of yoga practice that support both the body and spirit of the modern cyclist. We'll start with a restorative and centering meditation, and then start moving: gently stretching and strengthening areas that need attention. We'll also work with self-massage, meditation and breathing techniques to help relieve stress and be present both on and off the saddle.
Workshop fee: $20. Secure your spot by registering at http://www.urbanlotuschicago.com/
