No, this isn't about continuing to take personal inventory and promptly admitting when we were wrong.
It's about trying to ride to Three Floyds every month this year! Now there's a consistent schedule -- the 4th Saturday of every month -- others have opportunities to lead (I can't make it every time, including this time), and you can qualify for the F-12 Award.
The ride takes the lakefront trail south from the Clock Tower. You can join up anywhere along the trail. Just let the group know where so they can look for you.
45 miles total if you take the Metra back, 70 if you ride both ways. 16-19 mph. I like to get there before they open at noon (it's the third-best brewery in the world, so sometimes there's a line). Bring money, government-issued ID, a lock, water and snacks to have en route, and panniers for beer you can't get in Chicago.
Online resources: Google map, cue sheet, Metra schedule, Metra rules, and, to save a minute at the start, the nifty online CCC waiver.

mid-late afternoon on sat. i'm afraid it's not atypical. the key is to get there (or to have a buddy get there) early. or to go during the week.
all the way from niles? that's a trip! too bad about the line. glad you had a nice day and a nice meal at flossmoor station. hope we can ride together next time.
Oh, and I forgot about the flat tire so we were pretty late to 3 Floyds.
Yes, we did! It was a great day!!! Thanks for the map and cue sheet including notes on Metra departures from the Flossmoor station. If any group departed from the clock tower, we missed them. We were biking from Niles and had some difficulty navigating over to the lakefront path to get to the ride start, so we were late. We also ran into a couple of events that made biking the lakefront impossible between the museum campus and McCormick Place. By the time we got to 3 Floyds the wait to get in was about two hours, so we followed the cue sheet and had a wonderful meal at the Flossmoor Station before taking the train back into the city. By the way, the conductors were very friendly and accommodating -- something I don't always experience on Metra. I had never taken the Metra Electric line before and loved how you can roll your bike right onto the train.
so did you in fact go? hope you did, and it was great!
But we can follow a cue sheet. Printed out and ready to go.
I'm a guest -- signed a waiver -- and plan to ride with a friend. We've never done it either and are unreliable as leaders
young, i can't make it on sat. it looks like it'll be a nice, if breezy, day. with gps and the cue sheet, and an adventurous spirit, i think you'd be fine. :-)
