Come join CBES on an Autumn ride along the Des Plaines River Trail!
We'll meet at Norwood Park (northwest corner by Natoma and Avondale) for an 8:00 AM departure. Head over to the Des Plaines River Trail and ride about 37 miles north to Tighthead Brewing in Mundelein. After lunch and refreshments it's another 15 miles north to Only Child in Gurnee.
Route: http://ridewithgps.com/routes/9863040
After Only Child it's 9.7 miles to either Waukegan or Prairie Crossing Metra Stations. Riding to Waukegan allows a bonus stop at Zumbier.
This will be a metric century with at least 62 miles of riding.
Minimum average speed: 12 mph
Be aware that the Des Plaines River Trail is not paved. The surface ranges from hard packed dirt/mud to smooth crushed limestone. Make sure you and your bike can handle the trail, speed, and distance. This is a non supported ride so make sure you can handle any minor mechanical issues or flats on your bike. And last but not least this ride is on public roads with traffic so do consume responsibly.
Bring: Bungee for Metra, Water, Snacks, Lock, Lights, and a Spare Tube
Waukegan Metra: 4:10, 5:10, 7:10, or 10:40
Prairie Crossing Metra: 3:04, 5:04, 8:42, or 10:42

Thanks Rich! Another beautiful ride. Cheers all!
Very sorry. The Weezel and I got back too late from prepping for Marauders. We won't be making it this morning. Have an awesome ride y'all!
Showers are in tomorrow morning's forecast and if that's the case then we'll meet by the fieldhouse on the west side of the park. Wherever is most out of the rain.
The forecast looks fantastic from 10am onwards. I can't wait!
Yeah I'm happy about that as well. It was still under construction when I rode through there a few months ago. There are also easily ignorable trail closed signs at the train tracks north of Golf Rd.
According to this link all underpasses are open!
Marcus, I'll text you when we leave the Nature Center in Glenview ... should be around 10-10:30am. I expect to cross Route 22 an hour or so later.
Holy crap they got rid of that bit where you have to ride along Milwaukee! Excellent.

Last section has been completed (near Lincolnshire).
Unless the weather forecast for this week is way off, flooded underpasses will not be a problem.
As per my usual form, I'll meet up with the group on the DPR south of Route 60, likely around Route 22.
Cheers Rich!
There's a good chance I'll be out of town, but if I'm not I'll be there!
