Organized 11 years ago by the venerable John Greenfield, this beloved annual ride takes an moderate pace for a 100 mile route around the edge of our beautiful city.
An excellent first "Century" ride with it's many CTA bail-out options for peace of mind, this ride is perfect for those who think they might, but aren't sure yet that they can handle a full 100 miles in a day. (Spoiler Alert--Turns out, you totally can!)
John is stepping aside this year to work on other rides, so some of us that love this ride are keeping the tradition alive with a few minor alterations.
Start getting excited, start getting your friends excited, and stay tuned here for emerging details!
Meet-up time--8:00 am, y'all!

I'm making a big batch of cookies to bring--can't wait to try y'all's treats, too!
If someone can't sleep and wants to be super helpful--go over this map and mark all of the CTA and Metra stops that intersect the route for those that might want to join late/bail early.

celt-
If you want to provide a cellphone number, we'll call/text when the ride leaves the fountain and you can look for us in half an hour or so at Promontory Point. Alternatively, ride to South Shore and wait for the bathroom stop.
JoAnna--I'll be there at 8, we'll get going within an hour after that, but if you miss us at the fountain photo-op, don't fret. The first leg of the route is on the Lakeshore Path, so we won't be able to go very fast. A solo rider could easily catch us before we make a pee stop at the South Shore Cultural Center:

If you miss us there, the first proper stop will be just a little bit further south at Chicago Velo Campus, and we'll be hanging out there for half an hour while the racers show us how crazy fast they can go:

I've put this on http://MassUp.us/now
The route plot is there, cues sheet (with major stops map linked), link to Google version, chatter aggregating (may I suggest twits use #pr2012), etc.
Unless I bail (I did last year due to rain) I expect to be broadcasting, so text "WHERE" to u@massup.us to find us, or watch the progress online.
Yeay! just signed up as #50. Looks like a great day for riding with highs in the low 70's.
I am curious about the first (and subsequent lunch stops) as well. Trying to figure out what I need to bring, etc.
Peace All - Looking forward to a great, epic ride on Saturday!
What is the plan for a lunch stop? I know before we had stopped at Calumet Park, but since were leaving earlier and farther south that might be a bit early.
Hey, take a look at Dubi's routemap:

This is more or less as pre-ridden, and aside from a couple of somewhat troublesome construction bits, it's all totally rideable.
For those of you want to stop at Calumet Fisheries, I suggest you call ahead and place your order so it will be ready when we roll by.http://www.calumetfisheries.com/menu.html
