this is the first in a short series called Nature Rides, in which the objective is to sit back on that saddle for a minute and enjoy the natural beauty that we bike through. there will be 4-6 rides this spring/summer/fall, all meant to showcase chicagoland's ever-changing scenery.
View Ride #1
destination: Chicago Botanic Gardens
, Glencoe, IL
what's happening: it's the height of flowering season! trees, shrubs, annuals, biennials and perennials are going balls to the wall right now. additionally there's a festival there with plant and food vendors. a definite must-see.
meeting point: at the start of the North Branch Trail at Caldwell Woods (corner of Devon & Milwaukee Ave). we'll be in the parking lot.
time: heading out at 2:00pm, so everyone wanting to stop by the bike wash has a chance to.
price: admission to the gardens is FREE.
other details:
-this ride is BYO food/beverages. please feel free to bring your own but keep in mind that there will be kids at the picnic areas/gardens. there is a grill and cafe with a patio at the gardens that serves food and drinks (including alcohol).
-while at the gardens, feel free to explore them or sit back and relax at the patio area.
hope to see you there!
