Description

It is time this Saturday for the Midnight Marauders 4th annual Subterranean Ride. This has been the most popular ride we have put on since its inception. Basically it is a tour of the underground, and sub street level roads, oddities, attractions, and distractions in the down town area. For first timers, it will be a chance to see places that you probably never would, and for veterans, yet another chance to figure out “Where the hell did we go?” There will be some exciting new twists this year if we can pull them off, so even veterans will experience some new things.
For those unaware, there is a labyrinth of streets, tunnels and service roads under the city that only people that work there normally see, but this month Marauders get too as well.
We will meet at the traditional location, the Billy Goat Tavern, 430 N. Michigan Av., (lower level), at 11pm, Saturday, August the 21st. It is located at the intersection of Hubbard, and Lower Michigan Av., if you cant find it go downstairs. We will plan on leaving at midnight, and if you can hang for the whole ride, you wont get home till after sunrise. There will be a couple rougher sections (your morning on Sun;-), but any serviceable bike should work.
This is not a trailer friendly ride, unless it is a single wheel jobbie.
Martin

hey all, have a great time! Breaks my heart that i won't be in attendence on this one, family obligations. It's a time tested classic that will make you sweat like a pro... be safe and have a blast!

There will be at least one section where we have to lift our bikes over a foot high "curb", but otherwise just the normal stuff like a pass over a gravel section. On bike sound systems should not be a problem.

And this time, I'm bringing bug spray for whatever happens post-ride. Just in case. Last time I had to take off, the mosquitoes were so dense...

There's also a separate discussion thread about this ride at http://www.thechainlink.org/forum/topics/midnight-marauders-4th-annual

Last year's changed my life, by introducing me to new downtown routes I've used routinely since. I'm coming with usual posse.

Is it an on-the-bike sound system friendly ride? Or will we be carrying our bike on our shoulders while fjording sewage ditches?
