Great success today! Approx 1000 flyers distributed around the dePaul neighborhood including our first Divy station on Sheffield!

We were interviewed by a reporter from redlineproject.org Look for a piece on us there soon!

A final cap off 'celebration' at the former St Mary's Billards, currently known as The Beer Bistro on Fullerton, had Kevin C reminiscing about The Color of Money and his pool hustling days. Alas, the days of yore.

Big thanks to Tom Thunder Snow and Kevin Hustler C for making this a 'Pride' filled event, one of our largest ever and Katie's first time back in the saddle since being doored herself. Can't wait for our next one. Look for us on the South Side soon!

There's a bike blackout on the CTA today, but I'm going to try to get my folder on the train anyway.  I'll head toward Southport & Lincoln from the Wellington Brown Line stop, to avoid getting bogged down in the parade at Clark/Diversey.

With todays ruling I see the Diversey and Clark group being surrounded by MANY happy people. :)

Hi Steve,

We love having people help out in many ways.

  • Attend one of the Safety Blitzes and help distribute informational flyers
  • Donate to help fund the creation of the flyers, donations of bike lights to Working Bikes or other local non-profits, printing of other educational material (stickers, etc...)
  • Lead an effort to help reduce dooring crashes in Chicago overall or your local neighborhood (your own Blitz, etc)

Basically anything that can help reduce the number of dooring crashes is well within the scope of our organization.

We haven't had a formal meeting in a while, but are looking to in the near future.  Look to the calendar and our group page for updates.

Thanks!

We are gonna do this one like a coordinated sweep. 2 groups with different starting points that will converge on each other and then move south to the De Paul area.

I will start at Southport and Lincoln and head Southeast down Lincoln towards Diversey.

Katie will start at Diversey and Clark and head West towards Lincoln and meet up with me.

Once we reach each other we will head south on Lincoln through the De Paul area and end down near Oz Park.

See you all around 3pm.

:)
