Description

MADISON is a points race also known as the Team Race consisting of teams of two riders in to score points. Scoring is similar to a points race except only one rider on the team that is racing and eligible to scores points in the sprints. The active racer races on the bottom portion of the track as their partner rides slowly at the top of the track waiting to be tagged in. This is done by means of a ‘handsling’ or ‘exchange’ to help get the relieved rider quickly up to race speed.

The Illinois State Championships are brought to us by the Illinois Cycling Association in conjunction with USA Cycling, the Northbrook Cycle Committee, and the Northbrook Park District.
