The vender that impressed me the most was the guy selling belts made from used tires and using a segment of chain for the buckle. I hope you got your video, h.' I have a digital snapshot camera that will do a movie. I find it pitiful that people are hunting down high tech devices that do things that were common in analog that were common place 20 years ago. How about a VHS vid cam? Who uses high end audio stuff? Just download it and listen on an iPod. WOW, real good frequency response. Today I attended a high end audio convention and as I suspected the vast majority of components were vacuum tube, not transistor. Get back to basics. Using a digital vid cam at an auto race due to percussion vibrations produces nothing but using A VHS vid cam reveals a wobbling picture but you get the image and sound. My 1930 radio is immune to EMF so if you survive a nuclear attack you can still listen to the radio and my 1984 station wagon with conventional ignition will start and run under the same circumstances and all the high tech geeks will try to steal this ancient technology from me.

Any numbers yet on attendance?   It seemed pretty respectable to me.  There were a ton of people in line before the 10AM start and I was worried it would be a long time to get through it.  But the volunteers were very organized and it didn't take nearly as long as I had feared to pay and get everyone in.

I'm still bummed that I missed that $30 bike with all the tape over it & the yellow fenders in the bike corral!  Crazy deals were to be had those first few wild minutes.

My apologies to all the vendors I brushed-off those first few minutes of the morning as I tried to rush through the whole room scanning for used stuff on my list that I know would disappear fast.

Yea, after all is said and done even though there aren't any venders at the Arlington Heights bike swap there are bikes up the butt as far as you can see and it is the last weekend in April and the Metra Northwest line works for those heading back into the city. I will post it as a Chainlink event. My most impressive vender was a dude selling belts to hold up your pants made from used bicycle tires. Talk about being green. The bicycle polo was impressive but I suggest letting the goalies using unicycles thus not being accused of goal tending and they can stay at the goalpost.

Yolunteers were awesome, venue and parking sucked, good day overall but I think I will pass next year

I'm not sure. Could I have misspelled it? A bicycle pedal as opposed to a boat paddle. I remember when it was cancelled, not canceled. Pastry with a hole in it was doughnut as in dough, not donut as in do.

I'm confused. There is a nice dedicated bike lane on Roosevelt but I noticed as I walked westbound that there is a sign at Union and Roosevelt on the westbound side bolted to the traffic control post that read "No Pedaling." There was another one of these signs at Halsted and Roosevelt. My question is why is it illegal to pedal for that one block? What if the ride is against the wind? How much of a head of steam must one attain to coast for this one block? I saw people pedaling. Is the CDOT aware of this? The only option is to dismount and walk.
