Description

Hi!

It's time, once again, for the Chainlink Summer Bike Washes!

We'll be opening on May 19 and raising money for CPS classrooms through the donorschoose.org site. We really care about education, and we like to help teachers with very small (and usually out-of-pocket) budgets who sincerely want to provide a superb learning experience for their kids. The classrooms and projects we pick will be posted after the event!

100% of donations are given directly to charity, and all expenses are paid out-of-pocket by the volunteers!

So, how's that bike that's been indoors all winter long? Oh, you rode it through winter, you say?? Well, that's just great!

So either way, I suppose you'd like it to get cleaned up? Maybe a quick degrease and re-lubing of the chain and gears?

Well guess what!! You can come to our Bike Wash, where like-minded volunteers and bike-lovers will wash all the winter blues away from your frame, and make the drivetrain so clean and silent, you'll practically be a bike ninja!

What do we need?

Volunteers! Show up at any time, bring whatever supplies you can, such as:

  • rags
  • toothbrushes
  • multi-purpose/surface spray cleaner
  • lube
  • degreaser
  • sunblock

Bike riders! Show up any time, and bring ANY AMOUNT OF MONEY to DONATE to the cause! We'll clean your bike, degrease and re-lube your drivetrain, and send you on your way!

Typical donations are $10 to $20

TELL YOUR FRIENDS! Come to this event! It's fun, and we've made a lot of new friends because of it!

Flyers will soon be posted online for print-out and left at various bike shops for promotion. SPREAD THE WORD!

The Flyer is now attached!

I have a can of degreaser and a bottle of lube and some scrub brushes.  I'll grab some spray cleaner.

We're totally good on soap, we have more than enough. If you've got the other stuff then I'll just get a couple bottles of lube & degreaser each

I'm bringing a couple of everything, and I've sent out word for supplies, but no "concrete" answers on who is bringing what.

It's generally expected that volunteers / supporters ought to bring SOMETHING on the list, but not in the least enforced

Anyone want to help write a short press release so we can REALLY spread the word and get out to the general public about this awesome community event? E-mail me if you want a stab at it.  I can help look it over and get it out.
