No Beans?  It won't be the same, but I will point out the "Beans Parkway" sign.

FYI the following was just posted to the BIKE-CHI mailing list.  Just passing it along:

Subject: Safer route to Pierogi Fest

If you are planning to ride a bike from Chicago to the Whiting Pierogi Fest this weekend you should know that some new bike paths have been completed since last year that allow you to avoid riding on busy Indianapolis Blvd.  The Burnham Greenway bike trail starts under the Skyway bridge at Ewing Ave, and runs in between the Skyway and Indianapolis Blvd.  It crosses the Boulevard at 104th Street and proceeds south.

Turn left at 112th Street and head east to Indiana.  At the State Line there is a new bike trail that goes along the north side of 112th Street, under the Toll Road and past WalMart.  It continues past Cargill and then goes along the south side of Indianapolis Blvd for a short while before cutting through the Unilever parking lot and into Forsythe Park.

The south side of the park is 119th Avenue.  Just go straight on 119th to Liberty Savings Bank at the corner of Indianapolis Blvd and the entrance to the Fest.  South Shore Trails will be providing staffed bike parking south of Liberty Savings Bank for most of the time the Fest is open.

I have a bike map that shows the new trails and the rest of Northwest Indiana bike trails.  Here is the URL:

The Ride of The Summer is in Iowa, I'll be finishing up there so have to miss this one, again. Cheers.

The group usually splits up for the ride back, with one leaving around 3pm and the other at 4 or 5.
