The Program:
You bring your road bike and stationary trainer to the Studio at Tsubo for two structured indoor workouts per week. Power meters, or heart rate monitors and cadence computers are strongly encouraged but not mandatory.
The program lasts 16 weeks which includes 31 training sessions and will begin Saturday, Dec 6, 2008. There are two workouts per week: Saturday mornings from 8:00am until 10:30am which includes 2 hours on the bike and 30 minutes of core work and stretching afterwards, and Wednesday evenings from 7:00pm until 8:30 on the bike, all on the bike.
The program is designed to help ALL levels of cyclists achieve their goals for the 2008 racing season. Bike Racers, Triathletes, and Cycling Enthusiasts of all types will benefit from this program. Rollers are encouraged for the month of December. The month of December will be a base period, with a build phase of higher intensity workouts starting in January, and ending Saturday, March 28, 2009. The workouts build each week with built in recovery weeks and best results are achieved by completing every workout. When the weather breaks you will be in great shape but not burnt out. These workouts provide the structure and motivation that simply cannot be had at home in your basement no matter what your best intentions are!
The environment is very welcoming for everyone and we discuss what is happening on the international, national, and local cycling scene while watching race videos projected on a big screen. You will have a great time!
The Cost:

Here's what previous participants have had to say about the program:
"When its cold and snowy outside its always a bit easier to suffer with the indoor group ride. There's nothing like a bunch of other people in the room to keep you honest with the efforts... there's no cutting corners when people can see. Plus with the race videos, up tempo music and Kristen there to tell you to go a little harder, it's a way better workout than I'd get by myself."
-Chad Hartley, Professional Cyclist, Team Jittery Joes, 2005 National Madison Champion
"As a first-timer in the Pedaling With A Purpose class, I was amazed at how my cycling skills and ability improved over the course of the class and translated into huge gains out on the road in the spring. The instructor and other cyclists couldn't have been more positive and helpful. This is truly a class for those who want to improve their cycling skills - no matter what level they start from. It worked for me!"
- Janet Kowal, Ragbrai Finisher
