  • Abus Lock Winner - Thank you everyone who filled out the survey.  We will be sharing the results soon. In the meantime, you are probably wondering who won the Abus 6000 Bordo Folding Lock...Mark Giardina won the prize, pictured here!
  • Halloween Party - We are VERY excited to announce that this year's party on Friday, October 26 will be in partnership with Working Bikes Cooperative at 2434 S. Western in Pilsen.  We are working on sponsorships, awesome bikey raffle prizes, a possible haunted house and other spooky party details. 
  • Wait, Wait Don't Tell MeAccording to the WBEZ website, the November 1st show is "sold out," and the next available show wouldn't be until November 29th. Hurry! Hurry! Hurry!

  • Tonight: North Side MassTHE monthly north side gathering of cyclists. Winds a dozen miles-ish, ending with food+drink. Bring friends, tunes, bells, costumes, cameras. Not just for Northsiders, see it as a second big monthly mass, sometimes topping 100 riders.
  • Saturday: West Town Bikes Scavenger HuntThink you know Chicago like a garbage truck driver knows Italian beef? Then form your teams and mount your steeds for a city-wide scavenger hunt!  West Town Bikes has teamed up with the Law Offices of Jim Freeman, Chicago's beloved injured-cyclist defender, to create this point based scavenger hunt.  With a beer special courtesy of New Belgium Brewing Co. you can support West Town Bikes right up till the end of the party at Coles. 
  • Saturday - The 6th annual TREK Breast Cancer Awareness Ride happens tomorrow.   Doors open at 9 am. They will have coffee, OJ and bagels waiting for you.  100% of the proceeds go the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. 
  • Sunday: Bike LakeviewJoin the Lake View Citizens Council (LVCC) for a leisurely morning bike ride around Lake View. Get to know your neighbors while exploring our bicycle-friendly neighborhood. Helmets are required. Ending around 11:00 a.m. for social time at Big G's Pizza (3716 N. Clark). 
  • Tuesday (deadline) - The Illinois Department of Transportation has released a Request for Proposals (RFP) for a State Bikeway Plan. The RFP was released on September 25th, 2012 and will remain open until October 16th2012 at 1:30pm CST.  Also check out IDOT's new Bicycling Web Portal and give your feedback.
  • Tuesday: Illinois State Transportation Plan Public Meeting: District One - Multi-Modal MYP and Long Range Plan Update Public Meeting at the Thompson Center from 3 PM-6PM.
  • Friday AM: Memorial for Neill Townsend and Clint Miceli to Increase Awareness about Dooring - Gather for a memorial for Neill Townsend and Clint Miceli during the morning rush Friday, October 19. The memorial will last from 8-8:30. Afterward, we will continue in a ride of silence to the Loop.  Neill and Clint's friends and family will be in attendance.

  • November 2-4 - The Bicycle Film Festival returns to Chicago for another fun filled weekend including  group rides, BMX BBQ Jam/Block party @ Boulevard Bikes, Bike-In Brunch @ Heritage Bicycles, and Goldsprints afterparty @ The Logan Theatre hosted by Johnny Sprockets.  Check back for updates in coming weeks.
  • November 17: Eco Alleycat - Ride safely through the city to a variety of Eco destinations. Prizes to the top three finalists and raffle prizes for participants. More details coming soon.

    Prizes include IGO gift certificate, a pair of Keen Shoes and more.
