Swooned in June, with a syncope episode, ER & admitted overnight for observation, plus significant left hip pain shutting me down after a heat dome ride on 6/21. Only 280.2 road miles on the month, pushing me to 1,797.4 miles Y-T-D. Now trailing Curt(is)2023 by a whopping 1,181.6 miles. While 6 months remain on the calendar, I feel I may have lost this year's race?

whoa, did you swoon while riding? is your hip broken? it isn't losing to have 6 months of good rides.

No, I fainted at my local coffee shop and picked up a concussion on my way down. The hip pain is unrelated -- "mild osteoarthritis." YEA! (said sarcastically.) However, it doesn't sound like I am ready for a hip replacement -- yet.

were you wearing your helmet in your coffee shop? :-) hope you're recovering from your concussion.

my brother, and others, SAY they wished they got their hip replacements sooner. why stay in pain?

Back in the saddle by July 12th, but a road trip beginning in the last week on the month derailed my momentum. 359.3 miles on the month for 2,156.7 road miles y-t-d. Now trailing Curt(is)2023 by half a continent -- 1,718.8 miles!

2024 is a recovery year?

So to speak, I guess.

1352.7 after Eighth Step Ride. got super dehydrated and took the train home. extrapolation for 2024 down to 2084.7. but: "Bikes on Trains is now year-round on all trains when you board and disembark at designated bike stations."

Yes, hydration has become more challenging for me too. This old camel has needed to change his ways.

2702.0 miles cycled in 2024 after 448.8 miles (all outdoor) for August.
