About me:

Car-free bike lover - I'm very slow, but what I lack in speed, I make up for in enthusiasm! I love bicycles; I love Chicago; I love bicycling around Chicago.

I'm an urbanist I guess? I don't believe in building cities around the assumption that everyone owns a personal automobile. I think we can build cities either for cars or for people, but we have to pick one and personally, I pick people. Building for cars makes our cities ugly and excludes so many people from fully participating in public life. Making the cars electric will not solve this problem.

Sometimes I daydream about banning all cars and instituting total bicycle anarchy on the streets. Then I pull my head out of the clouds and grab my phone to record the fifty millionth Uber parked in the bike lane on Wells St.

My first bike:

I was 6. It was pink and white and had sparkly streamers from the handlebars. I remember throwing a temper tantrum when I couldn't ride it at first without the training wheels.
