What brings you to The Chainlink?
Our goal is to promote a safe way to actively travel throughout Northwest Indiana, via a connected system of trails, paths, and bike lanes. We work closely with communities, local government agencies, and planners to accomplish this.
About me:
South Shore Trails is made up of individuals from the region who love to use our trails, paths, and bike lanes for leisure, commuting, and exercise. We are…

- a coalition of advocates for active transportation and local communities encouraging environmentally friendly, alternative transportation, and recreation for all citizens;
- committed to enhancing the health, economics, and quality of life through the development of greenway and trail corridors and bicycle-friendly roads;
- partners with local governments and citizens, who identify resources, and provide educational information.

Our long-term vision is living in a region where you can step out of your house onto an environmentally friendly, safe route that provides you with a healthy way to live, work and play. Imagine a completely connected system of greenway corridors, linear parks, and bicycle friendly roads that link all of your schools, parks, and businesses for residents of all ages…. It is here in Northwest Indiana.
