Those are replacement wheels from Vuelta. They only take a fixed cog on both sides. The original wheel set had a flip flop that took a freewheel on one side and fixed on the the other. I taco'd the front wheel in a gigantic pothole and the rear eventually went badly out of true. That's what I get for commuting 115 miles a week ;) Still cheaper than car maintenance. I am generally satisfied with my Raleigh purchase. The retail price in 2005 was a mere $560. The new ones have nicer parts but they are also 900 + bucks.

love it. can't tell...is it a flip flop hub ?  a friend of mine got a rush hour in 2006 that so inspired me I promptly converted an old miyata (112) to SS (marcus from yojimbo's built the rear wheel) and now I own another SS (Freewheel). YES !!! who needs gears or supspension...but I will have both a front a rear brake  thankyouverymuch !
