Dan, I found it through the Chainlink this past early spring. It was a fellow Chainlinker in Evanston who had it. When he bought it, it had been all polished up like that. He did some additional work before he was willing to resell it. Way too small for him but just right for me.
1962 Raleigh--Sturmey Archer 3 speed. Obviously some parts are not original, but the frame and hub almost certainly are. We are not sure about too much else. Googling the head badge says it was made for the Jordan Marsh department store. There has only been one other like it that I have seen on the internet.
It is a fair weather bike. Steel rims and all of that chrome! I rode it today for the first time in a while. It lives inside. It is pretty eye-catching, and I am afraid to leave it anywhere for any length of time even with a sturdy lock on it.
that's a gorgeous bike !!! what is its story ?
Thanks Amanda. It is so much fun to ride.
Gorgeous Ride!!
