Streetcars make streets safe for cycling

Streetcars make streets safe for cycling

Streetcars go where people want to be. They make the best street in the neighborhood a safe place to bike no matter how old you are.
Some of the pictures here show people biking in streetcar lanes, which can be dangerous if you're not careful because your wheel can get caught in the tracks.
The Chicago Streetcar Renaissance plan does not mix bikeways and streetcar tracks. We're pushing for wide, separated bikeways between the tracks and the sidewalk.

Check out Chicago Streetcar Renaissance.

We want to build a modern streetcar line on Clark Street from Wrigley Field to the Loop.

Modern transit at the heart of the neighborhood for super-fast commuting and convenient local shopping on the way home. Every year more commerce and less congestion. Great restaurants, outdoor cafés. Safe biking for people of any age.

Come celebrate the start of something huge!

Chicago Streetcar Renaissance LAUNCH PARTY is Thursday, May 10.

Join us for a drink and a bite to eat, and let’s talk about the future of our great city.
