As a mechanical dork, all I can say is that there is one piece on your axle and the attachment has a sliding ring that when slid back, opens for sliding over the axle part. A very nice hitch indeed. It looks like a hydraulic fitting on a piece of hose but where and how is it attached to the bike? When I zoom in the photo looses too much detail.
