It is good to joke around,, I do it all the time. I do ride my recumbents every day except a few rain days and Da Big ONE snow storm. I have been riding from 1978 almost every day.  With joking aside, you and I are hard core and most people are not, Velomobiles offer the fair weather cyclist a way to still be cyclist instead of drivers. It is still my dream bike and not a mid life crisis car or car dependent all american dream. Now back to joking, with a tint of reality, There is a side by side two seater for your girlfriend and a inline two seater velomobile for your wife and kids. Very little beats riding with your gal, excoept riding with your gal and holding her hand.

Some people need the weather protection for both their person and equipment as they commute to work. This is less than a car in Purchase price, Repair cost, Fuel, Insurance, and health club membership. Parking is still free. Would you rather see one of these on the road or a car? People can and do afford cars every day, Cyclist have saved a ton of money by riding every day. More people would ride if they did not have to "tough out" Da rain and Da Snow.
