I'd been looking for an older parts group for a while for my late 80s Lotus Excelle for a while. I saw a few 600 groups meant for 700c wheels and frames with shifter bosses, but my frame is for 27" wheels and needs clamp on shifters.

Lucked out tonight and landed a Ross Professional, an otherwise ordinary gaspipe frame, but built up with a nice Shimano 600 parts group from the 'arabesque' period. Has the FD, RD, cranks, brakes, levers and clamp on shifters, all with the arabesque details. I can't wait to build up the Lotus with the 600 group. When I test rode the Ross, it shifted SO NICE.

Just wanted to share. Anyone else find any vintage road treasures recently?

i trashpicked a Ross Pro a couple of years ago from a Wilmette curb. Frame was toast, but the 600 cranks fetched a nice price on the 'bay...

Nice find. Post up pix of the Lotus when she's ready. Enjoy!
I have a Lotus challenger sx that I run 700's on. I can only run a front brake though the rear wheel just barely clears it. Its a super small frame 49 0r 50 so the wheels are really bigger than the whole frame. I call it my Clown road bike
