That part of Wisconsin is tornado alley! I went 1x that's it for me! A funnel cloud was less than 20yds for me. I see trees , trailers upside down. Janesville WI . Forget about it!

hmm...so...should we see how many 'Bong hits' we get? That is...how many people vote for Bong Recreational Area in Wisco?

Highway 12 does go directly there, but I wouldn't recommend it on the way to the dunes. It's marginally better to take 12 back home, but it's still very rough through Gary. Sarah and I just made the trip this weekend.

The Richard Bong looks fun. Warren Dunes may be an option too. Highway 12 goes directly there.

I'd be cool with going back to the beach state park or doing chain o lakes twice. How about the Richard Bong park in Wisconsin. It's just over the border and looks like a 70mi ride over.

More options blatantly stolen from an early comment.

Rock Cut State Park (about 25 miles from the Harvard, IL Metra)
Indiana Dunes-About 70 miles from Chicago
Bong Recreation Area-- In Wisconsin, about 70 miles from Chicago, pretty close to the Kenosha Metra.

Holding out to Chain O Lakes for the Corn Maze ride. unless y'all wanna do it twice.

Do people wanna go back to Illinois Beach State Park?

Ghetto Camping...well...my landlord suddenly forbade his tennants from walking on the grass. Its specially reserved for their children.

Are there a few of us ballsy enough to camp out in humboldt park?

What were the options spoken of again? You said chain-o-lakes was out till something or another?
Comment by Craig S. on June 22, 2010 at 9:32am
What ever happened to the idea of "ghetto camping?" I could firmly get behind that one as I wouldn't have to set up my tent, I could ride home after cocktail hour.
