Hi Alfredo--My friend got a job in Hanoi in January. I'm not sure, but I'm hoping to visit her in November--around Thanksgiving time. I may be buying a bike in Vietnam as taking mine would be cost prohibitive. I don't have more than 3 weeks time to visit (even that might be pushing it.) Right now, my primary goal is to keep trying to sock away money. It doesn't help that I just found out that a couple who are my dog walking clients (who I've worked with at least 5 years) just broke up and I don't know where the doggie is moving, but it may be out of my range of travel. :( Anyone need a dog walker in Bucktown or Logan Square? :) I'll have room in my schedule soon.
Shay--one of my sleeping bags is a brand new Sumberjack I got in a thrift store for $8. Score. Campmor also has some deals.
Thanks for the offer, Holly! I'm wanting to buy my own though.
Thanks, Dan, for the suggestions. I've been told an Army surplus store is also a great place to find good bags for cheap.
Shay--I have a sleeping bag you could borrow. I have two. One has a stuff-it bag and the other doesn't, so if you find a stuff bag (or want to make one?) you're always welcome to borrow whatever I don't use. I think they're both down sleeping bags of differing weights.
I need to buy panniers. I'm saving for a trip to Viet Nam. It's hard to consider going on camping trips when I know I need to shove money away for that trip. I really do want to take at least one trip with you guys, though.
