Anyone know the sizes that Motobecane Grand Touring mixte frames were made in?  I know it probably varied through the years.

Well, now we have to worry about the monolingual folks on the board. Shall we make the group French language only?

I will work on some ideas for a Bastille Day Tour and put it up on the calendar! What else do I have to do?

Also, shouldn't we call the group:
Bicyclettes Français? or Vélos français or something?

Que?

Lee, I love the Bastille Day ride idea. Maybe stop at the Alliance Francaise and grab a bite at a bistro.
Please let me know (I'm Michael) what forums you would like for the group. I would like to have a parts exchange, as the British Bike group does--those Limeys have nothing on us. Lee and I will offer advice and tips on dealing with your French beasties, and I can point you towards good sources of parts. For example, did you know Velo-Orange is having their manufacturers machine brand new shiny bottom brackets and headsets for you? Have a look around their site:
Headset: http://www.velo-orange.com/vofrthhe.html
BB: http://www.velo-orange.com/grcrufrthbob.html
As for those misaligned forks, I will post a picture for you all of the dropout alignment tools I made. They cost about $7.00 for the components and work like a charm.
I'm totally open to ideas for discussion threads here, so chime in.
In the mean time, post lovely pictures of your garçons and filles.

every time i bring my bike to west town in an open shop, alex inevitably wanders over and ponders the hilarity of my bike... his phrase (that i've heard several times), "the best thing the french ever did for a bicycle was stop making them."

yeah, he's pretty much hit the nail on the head

i have a many-times-rebuilt '72 PX-10 that just keeps on rolling, along with a '69 Gitane Pista that i still race on... Jolly fun trying to get BB cups & headsets. Used to sell Gitanes back in the day... never had one come through with an aligned fork! And that paint! We used to believe that the French were sending back all the surplus paint we left behind there after the war...

We need a Bastille Day ride with only French bikes.....

My poor Gitane is getting a makeover this summer. She got me through my first winter ever and I need to show her how much I have appreciated her sacrifices.
