Hi Bike Commuters,
I work for Specialized Bicycles and will be in Chicago next week.

I'd love to chat with a few bike commuters to better understand the commute scene in the city.

Anyone willing to meet me and my colleague for coffee on Monday or Tuesday (Sept 25&26), please shoot me a direct message.

thanks!

Raquel

Just a note of introduction.  I am the Director of Development at Active Transportation Alliance and I commute from Riverside to the Loop most days. I am excited to be part of the group.

4 of our 5 employees commute by bike and 1 walks. We'd be happy to offer advice to any new riders. Go commuters!

Commute daily Edgewater to Loop. Sometimes LFP, sometimes I take Clark, sometimes Damen/Elston. Depend on my mood.

I commute from Brighton Park to Downtown, Mon-Fri.

Also, go shopping, etc...

Anyone else?

Just rode the lakeshore trail nortbound from downtown for the first time in a while yesterday--looks like they just finished repaving the December storm damage near North Ave and are set to fix up the stretch up near Fullerton.  Better news for rollerbladers, true, but nice all the same.

The bike lane should be called the double park lane.

Maybe this group could be west side or humboldt park/logan square commuters?? (since this is where a lot of us are?)

Chris: eastbound Lake street is fine until about Western, after which the road gets pretty chewed up. If you turn south around Garfield Park, you can continue east on Washinton, Madison, Jackson, whatever.

If you're interested in a more circuitous route for the evenings, Milwaukee-Armitage-Austin is fine.

I've been taking either of these daily for a few years.
