Randonneuring Defined

Randonneuring: Randonneuring is long-distance unsupported endurance cycling. This style of riding is non-competitive in nature, and self-sufficiency is paramount. When riders participate in randonneuring events, they are part of a long tradition that goes back to the beginning of the sport of cycling in France and Italy. Friendly camaraderie, not competition, is the hallmark of randonneuring.

Did the 400k with the Indianapolis group last weekend.  Nice (small) group.  Pretty tough route.  Que sheets could have been better.

It rained all day but I saw some cool new sights.

FYI - I found this Indiana Randonneurs, who have a series out of Indianapolis.  It looks like they are in their second year.  http://cibaride.org/IndianaRandonneurs

I would recommend getting off in Alton which is one stop before St. Louis.  It is closer to Edwardsville.

I am doing the 200k on 3/28 out of Edwardsville, I am taking the train down to St. Louis and riding to a hotel near the start. I am hoping the weather will be nice.

St.Louis group has scheduled Edwardsville 200K for 3/28, 4/4, & 4/11.

Hope to do at least one of them, probably 4/4. 4/11 is the Quad Cities 200, which is pretty good, too. i'm tossing a coin on that choice. Edwardsville is pretty flat & open and can be WINDY. i did it a few years ago on a miraculously warm March day...

For anyone going to Edwardsville, what are your travel/accomadation plans? IIRC,the start time is 0600.

Cool.  Have any of you done this one before?  If so we've probably ridden it together in the past.  I don't know anybody by their chianlink handle.

Looks like Ilter and I are doing the 4/4 200k out of Edwardsville as well.

I am planning on doing the 4/4 200k in St. Louis.
