Randonneuring Defined

Randonneuring: Randonneuring is long-distance unsupported endurance cycling. This style of riding is non-competitive in nature, and self-sufficiency is paramount. When riders participate in randonneuring events, they are part of a long tradition that goes back to the beginning of the sport of cycling in France and Italy. Friendly camaraderie, not competition, is the hallmark of randonneuring.

It's great to see GPS files for GLR routes.  Is there any chance that there will be one ready for this Saturday's 600K?

Another resource for those with GPS devices is here:

GLR GPX files

There you will find GPX files containing both routes and tracks, along with suggested settings for your GPS device.

Feedback appreciated from anyone who uses these files.

Hello everyone,

I've created a Google spreadsheet with the GLR 400 km cue sheet data at: GLR 400 km Spreadsheet

The route is available on Google maps at: GLR 400 km route

and on Map My Ride at: MMR GLR 400 km route

As always, this information is for reference only and is subject to change, official route will be provided at registration.

I hope this information is helpful, I'd appreciate it if you'd notify me of any errors or omissions. Thanks!

I had a great time as well.  Thanks to everyone who helped put it on and to all the nice folks I met out there.

It was indeed a great day for a ride yesterday! The wind was not our friend in the morning, but definitely in the afternoon. I'm looking forward to the 300k but hoping for a little more sun and a little less wind. I'm also wondering if anyone would like to split the cost of a room for the nights of May 6-7 at the Super 8. Driving up and back in the same day was ok for the 200k, but I don't think it will work quite as well for the longer rides. If you're interested, please send me a message and we'll figure it out.

Yesterday was a great day for a GLR brevet. The first leg is the longest and was the toughest with a SW headwind. Some hills on the next two short legs to Evansville and Oregon. From Oregon it was warp speed headed east with a strong tailwind. The 8-mile stretch on Cty-M after Milton is still a boneshaker. Nice to meet Julie up there.

If any women want to share a room I'm happy to split my hotel room.
