Randonneuring Defined

Randonneuring: Randonneuring is long-distance unsupported endurance cycling. This style of riding is non-competitive in nature, and self-sufficiency is paramount. When riders participate in randonneuring events, they are part of a long tradition that goes back to the beginning of the sport of cycling in France and Italy. Friendly camaraderie, not competition, is the hallmark of randonneuring.

That day you rode the FVP sounded pretty brutal.  We'll see you at the Super 8 bright and early Saturday Morning.

Pretty well. I need a slightly longer stem and I'm all set. This will be the first test for it, since I had DNF in the permanent.

If it holds Jim, I'll take it.  That last leg back into Delavan seems to last forever!  I can't wait to see your new bike!  How is it working out for you?

Things look OK right now. I'm sure that NW wind will be helpful heading SE on the return leg of the course.

"Chance of showers" doesn't bother me too much.  I wouldn't mind some favorable winds though.

i do not think that they offer that service. i am looking forward to the ride though, hopefully the forecast will become more favorable.

Who else is looking forward to spending some quality time in fabulous Delevan this weekend?  Does the Super 8 have a masseuse on staff?  :)

Oh, he's been there before, a couple of times last year.  he doesn't drive and has no problem sitting in the hotel room all day on his computer. Low maintenance :)  I'm not sure what to do on the drive back Sunday, other than visit the scenic tollway oases and the Mars Cheese Castle (kidding -- I grew up in WI near a good dairy so the place does not impress).

Hi Scott, did you look into places of interest around Delavan (state parks, beaches, restaurants, Madison?, etc.) for your partner to visit while you are riding? My wife accompanied me in my first trip to Delavan, now she does not even want to hear the name :)

Putting in my "me too" here... I'll be doing the 200k on 5/11, though I haven't sent Jim the registration yet.

Though I did the 200k, 300k and 400k last year, 64 miles was hard for me today. Not enough good cycling weather this spring compared to last year.... though I know most of you will ride through anything!

I booked the Delevan Super 8 for 2 nights so that my tag-along partner can stay in the room past noon while I ride.  Maybe if anyone checking out on 5/11 needs storage space or a post-ride shower, I can accomodate you.  I'll be leaving 5/12.
