Here's a link to the Great Lakes Randonneurs

Most of the routes start in/around Delavan, WI, not far from Chicago.

"GLR is a cycling club which exists to promote and manage a yearly brevet series for randonneurs in the Midwest area. We are one of many such clubs throughout the United States and the world. The brevet series gives riders an opportunity to qualify for large scale international rides like Paris-Brest-Paris (PBP), Boston-Montreal-Boston (BMB), or any other long distance event

We welcome any kind of cyclist to come out and ride one or all of the brevets offered during the Spring and Summer months."

The next PBP is in 2011.

I'm honestly not against driving to something like this. My car doesn't have a rack at the moment, but it could likely carry a couple in the back.

I could go either way on how to get there - I'm happy either way, or perfectly ambivalent. There is something kind of pure (as in "essence" or something) in actually arriving at a cycling event like this on a bike, though. It may or may not be prudent....
The link you posted is no longer correct. I believe it is trying to go to the old site. The correct link is http://www.glrrando.org. Registration forms for the 2009 brevet series will be available shortly. The brevet schdule is now on the site.
Thomas Berube speaks truth! I clicked his noted link, got directed to the site, and can confirm that the 2009 ride schedule and forms are posted.
