In case anyone is interested, I'm leading a double century ride on July 3rd from Naperville to Dixon and back. This is an Elmhurst Bicycle Club ride.

The start time will be 6:00AM and we should be back by 8:00PM. These details and more can be found on the ride website here.

Seven of us started and completed the ride, eight counting Rob Schaller who rode in from Algonquin to join the ride at Sycamore, then split off in Hinckley to ride back. As it was very hot, we stopped a lot (six stops) for water, etc. Then again six stops might be considered the norm for a ride this long. We also stopped for a flat tire, and for a 15-minute shade break in mid-afternoon. As a result we got back a little later than planned, just past 9:00PM, even with a faster pace (mine was 16.7 mph) than I was shooting for (I know some others wanted to go faster).
This was a successful event. The route needs to be tweaked a bit to avoid some gravel roads sections (actually they were kind of fun). A 5:00AM start might be a good idea if anyone ever does this ride again.
