Chicago to Detroit (and back)
Howdy Randonneurs,
I'm fantasizing about a late May trip to the D for Memorial Day. I'm thinking about a loop which would go through NW IN, then more or less straight to Ann Arbor and Det, then after the holiday, a return route through Lansing, Grand Rapids, Muskegon and to Milwaukee by way the lake ferry, then back to Chi. I've never done this sort of thing before, so I'm looking for advice.
I'm planning on picking up a BOB yak (no panniers) and doing about 100 miles/day. Road Bike, so pavement is necessary. A mix of camping and couch surfing. I've sent for and received the NW IN bike map, and hopefully will get a few MI maps before the trip too.
Advice?
