-start a separate discussion to collect information on, discuss, and plan for each victim.

-take the time, if possible, to assist by helping track down missing information or details.

-try to post information to pertinent discussions rather than to the comment wall, so we can find it down the road, or otherwise stated, avoid posting discussion to the comment wall for which there is a discussion thread started.

-feel free to add past victims who were never memorialized, or start discussions about existing ghost bikes and/or their victims.

Question concerning maintenance 4 Replies

Hello everyone,     I was wondering if permission is needed to do a little maintenance/upkeep on an already existing Ghost Bike.  I don't want to change anything about it, just clean around it, add a new coat of paint, maybe add some flowers. …Continue

I think the Patrick Thomas Stack bike is at Huron and Orleans, not Kinzie or Hubbard.

Jepson Livingston's bike was removed the end of September by unknown person or persons. It was replaced on the evening of October 6th, and in time for his birthday on October 8th.

I just saw his bike there last night... @ Diversey and Avers.

So, Jepson Livingston's bike has been removed for sure?  Can I get a second confirmation?  I saw some hubub, but not a finale.

I wouldn't extrapolate a few haters too far.  Plenty of the bikes are cherished by their neighborhoods.

In Steven's August 2011 CCM video Kathy shows a photo of a (retroactive) new one north a few blocks of the Merchandise Mart on a NE corner which I presume is Orleans at Kinzie or Hubbard, for Patrick Thomas Stack (8/8/62-7/24/89).

FYI, the ghost bike formerly at Lincoln/Damen/Irving is now definitely gone.  Here's my archived photo and info:

This was not entirely unexpected.  It was de-named a few years ago, then last winter crews pulled up the entire rack and bike and set it aside for construction.  I'd added a sign notifying to whom it may concern to please restore it when construction was completed and giving some contact and context info.  Over the months it's been confirmed still present in that configuration with sign several times.  But a few weeks ago Jera mentioned not seeing it so we scoped a block around, all corners, no trace.

2010 route posted: http://www.rideofsilence.org/chicago/index_2010.html

Open to route modifications if it can be done safely and without adding more mileage.

this year's ROS route will likely not vary from last year. any objections to keeping it the same in 2011?

It's a thought, to get something new up before the ride of silence, mere weeks away.
