-take the time, if possible, to assist by helping track down missing information or details.

-try to post information to pertinent discussions rather than to the comment wall, so we can find it down the road, or otherwise stated, avoid posting discussion to the comment wall for which there is a discussion thread started.

-feel free to add past victims who were never memorialized, or start discussions about existing ghost bikes and/or their victims.

Question concerning maintenance 4 Replies

Hello everyone,     I was wondering if permission is needed to do a little maintenance/upkeep on an already existing Ghost Bike.  I don't want to change anything about it, just clean around it, add a new coat of paint, maybe add some flowers. …Continue

Bullies are everywhere. Never negotiate with terrorists. They hate our freedoms.

I apologize if I'm a little late to the party, but are you suggesting that we no longer have any rides to do with the ghost bikes, Howard?
Comment by Doug Haynes on November 4, 2011 at 8:51am
I would just like to throw down a +1 on everything Howard said.

Howard,

I recently helped with installing a ghost bike, and I found it to be a great experience. Not nearly as somber as expected.

Which other ghost bikes are requested that you refer below? I don't see any specific requests? I can be available for painting and installing it.

I don't have bikes available for it, but I can arrange for the other parts.

Andrew,

You don't follow any of this stuff and then you burst in breaking the story over and over-- I tried to point you to the whole drama and the removed bike you slept through, and you obviously didn't have the patience to read any of it. It's just plain insulting that you would label it "paranoia" without bothering to read the comments from the people who removed Jepson's bike and declared their intent to remove all others. or the Sun Times story about it.

Nobody could manage to be 1/10th as infuriating as you without trying.

Why not put your efforts towards something that benefits the bike community? There are notes all over this group and all over the forum about people who have requested ghost bikes-- why not help with that?

Again, I am asking that there not be a one-stop resource where those who want to see ghost bikes go away can get a nice neat list of locations.  It would be a minor modification to your site.

Answer the math question Andrew...

We never agree, but I'd be interested in hearing consensus. Personally, I hold that information must be free, and that a bolt cutting serial psychopath sounds like paranoia.

Andrew,

how did you come up with the number 32 years after the fact?  Are you just not very good at math?

Thanks for creating that thread.

Can we please stop crowing about the location of the ghost bikes?

It's disappointing that you're not only not willing to have a collaborative discussion about this, but seem to be going out of your way to publicize the location of every ghost bike.
