Chicago police tonight said they want to question the driver of a tanker truck in connection with a hit-and-run traffic crash this week that left a 65-year-old man dead on the side of the road.

About 5:50 p.m. Monday the man and a heavily damaged bicycle were found alongside the eastbound lanes of Pershing Road on the 300 west block, in the Wentworth Gardens neighborhood on the South Side, police said.

Preliminary information indicates the man was struck by a semi-tractor tanker truck with a red extended cab that was seen travelling at a high rate of speed eastbound on Pershing Road at the time the victim was struck, according to a community alert issued Wednesday night.

The victim has been identified as Robert Felice, 65, with no known address, said a spokesman for the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office.

He died from multiple injuries after he was struck by a vehicle, according to autopsy results.

Anyone with information is asked to call the police Major Accident Investigation Unit at 312-745-4521.

Anyone willing to make a sign for a ghostbike for this victim?
