An off-duty Cicero police officer struck and killed a 54-year-old Seneca, Ill., man Sunday morning in west suburban Cicero, according to Cicero police.
Michael Dlugopolski, of the 2400 block of East 29th Road in Seneca, was struck by a vehicle at 12:42 a.m. Sunday in the 3100 block of Cicero Avenue in Cicero and pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office.
An autopsy determined Dlugopolski died from multiple injuries from an SUV striking a bicycle and his death was ruled an accident, the medical examiner's office said.
Cicero town spokesman Ray Hanania confirmed the officer involved was an off-duty town of Cicero police officer, but deferred further comment to Illinois State Police, who are investigating the incident.
An ISP spokesperson did not immediately respond to messages seeking comment Tuesday night.
