I've been using Campagnolo components for many years and with a qualified and resounding yes, Campy is the best. But, Campy lost it to the Asian's by pricing itself out of the market.

Shimano and SRAM are very good products and competitive to Campagnolo's mid range to upper mid range line. But, where do you see Campagnolo on mid range and higher, very few bike, unless you want to spend close to $10,000 for a plastic bike.

I have 85 Gios Torino Professional with all Campagnolo Record C parts and it's still looks great, can't beat Campy's polish and quality. My 95 Cinelli Supercorse has the lastest Plastic, TI, Alu parts, and works seamlessly together. My 95 Colnago Master Light has a mixture of newer and older versions of Campy, the Croce D'Aune front and rear derailleurs work great with Campy's 10sp record brifters.

In other words, when buying Campagnolo equipment, they work together. One of the hallmarks of Tullio's philosophy.

The old saying "When Campy Breaks in, Others Break Down. So there is no need to bash the competition, they know it and make lots of money replacing a complete component, instead of some small part that you can get from Campy.

Thank you,

Mike

I am a brand new Campy user with Athena everything on a 2010 BMC SL 01.

Crisp, reliable, solid, and precise are some of the words that come to mind in the first few hundred miles. Something about this equipment inspires the sense that it will feel the same a few thousand miles in as well.

We shall see, but so far, I am very pleased.
