This time last year, I had an old, but recently tuned up bike, and a few fifteen mile weekend rides under my belt.
Now, I spent an inordinate percentage of my waking life thinking about bicycling, or riding a bike. I commuted to work this winter, with just about ten weather days off. I see today’s sun, and can’t wait to finish my work, so that I can possibly get a two hour ride in this evening. I wonder if I can attend the Bike Swap tomorrow, and get a big weekend ride in. If I forgo the bike ride for the swap, will the weather allow me to do a large ride on Sunday, when the sun rises earlier. I wonder if the Cook County Forest Preserve has plowed the Salt Creek trail. I wonder if NotoriousDUG is as notorious as his name suggests, and if he will be at the new bike shop if I went by there at some random time, and whether the new shop will allow him to host his bike repair classes closer to my house. I think about when the first day that I could do another S24O camping trip to Channahon might be, and if anyone wants to go with me. I debate whether or not I want to buy a Long Haul Trucker as a speedier upgrade for my Schwinn Suburban. I consider whether the inexpensive panniers currently on Sport.Woot are a good buy or not. I write posts for the Chainlink instead of getting my work done, so I can take off on a bike ride…

Same here, old mountain bike tuned up, bought 3 new used bikes (one in pieces and in process of being put together, new single wheel trailer, tent, thinking about how to comute to work (15 miles on 2 lane blacktop in lake county, and seeing these drivers every day is very scary), constant stream of thought about biking. Might be able to do 5 mile car 10 mile bike on path in summer. Very cool addiction, if I do say so myself.
There is a step program but it isn't 12 steps -it's N+1 steps!

Me too, although maybe not the camping part! Is there a 12-step program for cyclists?
Nice collection! Get that commuter built up for the summer!

Since moving to a place with more storage my problem has grown. I'm up to:
1 Fixie
1 Touring
2 Tandem
1 Folding
1 Mountian
1 Frame waiting to become a commuter

I dream about a Yuba Mundo. I just cannot yet justify the cost, so I might end up with an Xtracycle FreeRadical conversion.

Sometimes I think about a Surly. There was one for sale on this blog a few weeks ago, at a very fair price, that must've sold quickly. I've never ridden one, but the one I saw at Johnny Sprockets on Bryn Mawr was surprisingly lightweight. A very impressive bike.

Deet-- very impressive! I have about 3500 miles in on my rolling twelve month, with one homemade metric century, and about a 100 miles on my S240. This year I would like to get a century in. Next year, maybe a 200K, but I think that might require a new bike.
OLF-- Look for my brown Schwinn Suburban with a back basket. You will almost assuredly see me around town somewhere. Usually wearing a green jacket and a reflective vest, but not always.
I only have three bikes. One is a leftover, a '51 Cruiser that I commuted on 20 years ago, with a two speed coaster hub, and a completely destroyed rear rim. It's unrideable, but I can't bear to part with it, and don't have the knowledge to fix it. Another is a single speed Nishiki that I bought as a spare, but it is too big for me, and I've never used it as a spare... I'm not out of control yet, am I?
ha ha ha...
Blaming others will never lead to a solution. You're just gonna have to look your addiction in the face and deal with it. Having said that, there is no known cure. Sorry, its a hopeless case.

Julie, you don't accept the blame for my addiction?
It's our addiction, Tom. Julie's just our enabler!
So nice to meet some of my fellow junkies today!
Re: Ortleib panniers--Not sure if you saw these: http://chicago.craigslist.org/wcl/bik/3663449214.html *I am not the seller. I'd get them but I prefer another color.
