WTB: Short reach(39-50mm) dual piviot side pull brake calipers.

Picked up a new frame tonight and need some calipers for her in she short reach dual piviot side pull variety. (Say that a few times real fast).

Might also be in the market for some "city bar" brake levers... Maybe. :)

PM me if you have something.

I have new Shimano 4600 calipers. They have a different cable pull ratio from older calipers, are supposed to be used with compatible levers.  I don't know how sensitive this issue is, so I'm looking to try them on something and find out.  Ideal situation would be to use the same levers as you plan to use.  I'm not exactly sure how you define city bar.  Are regular MTB/V brake type levers what you're thinking of using?

Hello

Yep, Mtb (22.2) sized levers is what I'll be using. Probably something simple like the Tektro FL-750 but I won't get around to ordering anything till Monday. So there's time to see what's what or what anyone has no offer in the lever department.

Not sure exactly what happens when you don't use Shimano STI levers with their brakes, most descriptions say "mushy" brake.

I wouldn't order anything until one side of the equation is pinned down.

I've run older road calipers with levers designed for V brakes with no problems.  In that instance, it seems to me that the levers have a very solid feel, which may be an indication that they need more force at the lever compared to a road lever that was intended for the caliper.  I actually like the feel of them better than with a road lever, even though they are "incompatible" by definition.   I don't know which way Shimano went on the new calipers' cable pull, but if you are not in a hurry I can try some differnt levers with the 4600s.
