Rode from Hyde Park up to visit a friend's foster cat off Halsted and Wrightwood; came back by way of REI and Rapid Transit to pick up/fix a few bike things. Had one horrifically close call (squealing brakes and some kind of collision immediately behind me) on 18th as I went home...didn't ride on Sunday, but made it in today.
Was cleaning house almost all day Saturday and didn't realize how lovely it was outside--went for a quick ride along the lakefront from Montrose to around Foster and back. Then fought the wind (and a bike stuck in a high gear AGAIN) to Wicker Park for the Bike Fancy one-year-anniversary party followed by a stop in Logan Square for a friend's birthday. Luckily there was a great tailwind on my way back home. Sunday I had to drive with a friend somewhere but it was probably too windy for me anyway.
Yeah, that headwind on Saturday was brutal! I've never truly been blown sideways before, but I went to take a left from Wabash onto Cermak...and just kept going left! :P
It was painful....Had to help a buddy move on Sat...
Got to ride Sunday on the Salt Creek Trail, Zoo to Oak Brook...Big ol' fat sun showing for Tuesday! I will run it again tommorow. What amazed me was that there was hardly ANYONE out on Sunday. Maybe the wind forcasts kept everyone home.
My best wishes for Grandmother and family Duppie.
Friday I did about 25 miles by moonlight. Only turned the headlight on for 1 approaching car.
Tonight I left at sundown, rode about 10 miles before I turned the lights on, then 25 in the dark.
Woot! Great to put a face to a moniker!
