That seems like a tad overkill. In general if I'm waiting very long and there's nothing coming through the intersection I just run the red. However, if I were so inclined, all of my bikes are steel. Laying them down over the sensor (in the absence of other traffic of course) usually gives the sensors enough to read. On top of that, there are devices for motorcycles, and some you can make yourself that will supposedly trigger the sensors using rare earth magnets.
There is some debate about whether something like that can actually trigger a traffic signal sensor, but I've never tried on myself. As I said, I usually just run the red if it's quiet and the light doesn't change.
